AT&T sucks. They violate customer's privacy by ratting on them to the government without warrants. They are anticompetitive in their stance on net neutrality and their privacy policy. They now will cut you off of their DSL service for saying that "tends to damage the name or reputation of AT&T, or its parents, affiliates and subsidiaries".

I got rid of my DSL through them as well as my home telephone service and named their net stance as well as their collaboration with the government in illegal wiretapping of American citizens and their offer was $100 in gift cards to keep me. I guess they really do think that everyone is for sale.

People, cancel AT&T service ASAP. Actually, trash them until they disconnect you - it would be far more fun that way.

For any of you out there considering DirecTV and an HD DVR combo, think again. The software is improving as new versions come out but it is nowhere near the TiVo platform available for SD that they used to have. Plus, there is no diagnostic functionality in the software so when a problem arises that they aren't sure about they tell you to format the drive. This erases all your recorded programming and lists. Then they tell you it's fixed. If it breaks again, then they'll send you a refurbished unit and again, you lose all your recording. Then the problems come back again, since they sent you junk as a replacement, and you spiral downward once again.

I've been a customer since 1999 and I cannot believe how many problems I have had since I went HD. Their customer service is horrible in more ways than I can stand to repeat and escalation attempts fall on more deaf ears, often more confrontational and rude than the front line reps.

Ah, the weather is nice and winter is over. I'm sure it will rain like crazy for a while, but the days like this get me excited for what's to come. It'll be nice to be out and about and active again.

So I don't keep up much with Vox anymore. I still love it but I don't have that much time to goof off on the web. I never was a blog person before Vox so it isn't like I had a habit already. I'll try to get more stuff up but I don't know if anyone even looks at the thing anymore. Most of the people I sent invites to don't seem interested and I intended to use it as a way to communicate with folks easily.

I love to check everyone else's stuff out but I haven't done a lot of that either. Maybe Spring will bring more energy and motivation.   

So, any other parents get asked by their kindergarten aged child why people killed MLK and tried to kill his entire family and how people use bombs to try to blow up houses after they came home from school today?

Thanks to the public school system for introducing the concept of murder and political assassination to my 5 year old son. Just when I thought they couldn't top the civil defense conversation I had to have after Constitution Day...

Happy New Year. I'm glad it is here and the holidays are over. They were wonderful for all, aside from when we were sick, but it was so crazy busy that the normal routine is welcome again.

I'll put some pictures up sometime soon. The kids had a great Christmas and loved having Aunt Sara and Uncle Jason here visiting.

I can only imagine how things would be if we didn't all have flu shots. Nothing like a good stomach bug to help stay out of the egg nog and cookies.
